
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She is also the captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the highest level of women's professional soccer. From 2018 until 2020, she was a co-captain of America's women's national soccer squad alongside Megan Rapinoe. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut at the time and played a major role in helping the team win the league title. Morgan 22, then 22 years aged, was the smallest player from the nation at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. In the 2012 London Olympics, she scored the match-winning goal the 123rd minute of the semi-final against Canada. She was second in the U.S. to score 20 goals and 21 assists in 2012, which makes her the youngest and sixth-highest scoring athlete in the nation to score 20 goals in a single year. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. Morgan was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments.
